ABOUT US

AFXIZIp40

Mission statement

A SYMBOL of a MOVEMENT used to ignite a new spirit of empowerment, leading to much needed positive social change, breaking free from all negative and detrimental thoughts behaviors and conditions that bind or oppress, as we rise.

THE PREMISE

As conflict and division continues, it has become clear that our ultimate survival is dependent on the collective STRENGTH of our CULTURE.

SOCIOLOGICAL FACT:  WHAT ANY CULTURE VALUES IS WHAT THAT CULTURE BECOMES.  This is not a statement of opinion, but a statement based on SOCIAL SCIENCE.   This sociological fact indicates that the strength of any culture is inescapably linked to that culture’s VALUES.  These VALUES are the building blocks that form the characteristic of that culture.  These characteristics are then expressed through that culture’s ARTS, LITERATURE, FASHION, and MUSIC, which are then placed on full display to the rest of the world.

                                      Martin Luther King Jr.

If we accept the significance in history of Martin Luther King Jr., then we must acknowledge that his leadership was FUNTAMENTAL to the Civil Rights movement’s ultimate success in leading to the end of segregation.

We can never lose sight of, and acknowledge that the strength of the civil rights movement was empowered by one key and profound quote.

               JUDGE ME NOT BY THE COLOR OF MY SKIN,

                BUT BY THE CONTENT OF MY CHARACTER.

What Martin Luther King was saying is that if the world would look past skin color, they would discover a people of tremendous CHARACTER.

In his wisdom Dr. King knew that WITHOUT CHARACTER, WE HAVE NOTHING BY WHICH TO NEGOTIATE FOR EQUALITY.  It could be argued that this quote is key to EMPOWING the civil rights movement.  Dr. King was so convicted by this principle, that he was willing to face humiliation, physical harm, and incarceration, paying the ultimate sacrifice for this principle.

THEREFORE

                                    CHARACTER MATTERS

MLK’s prison number 7089, is used to represent his commitment to the civil rights movement, and our commitment positive social change.

                      7098 = CHARACTER MATTERS

                             Booker T. Washington

CONFORMATION

BOOKER T WASHINGTON stated, “CHARACTER IS POWER” and

“CHARACTER more than CIRCUMSTANCES MAKES A MAN”

Indicating that, if CHARACTER shapes the thoughts, behavior, and attitudes of a people, then it is logical to conclude that, people of character will shape the culture in a positive and productive way.

ROSA PARKS

THE WOMAN in CULTURE

Throughout history, the women in society have ensured the stability, progress, and long-term development of any society and any culture.  Women historically have been our caretakers, educators and therefore key to ultimate survival and prosperity of any culture.  The strength of any culture is, without debate, determined by how that culture esteems and values its women.

It is a sociological fact that THE WOMAN ARE THE GUARDIANS OF THE VALUES OF A CULTURE.    What the woman values is what she will allow to be passed on to future generations.  To demean the women, is to harm the culture.

ROSA PARKS’ arrest on DECEMBER 1 1955 sparked the civil rights movement.

Her quote:

“MEMORIES OF OUR LIVES WORKS AND DEEDS WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE IN OTHERS”             Certainly, ROSA PARKS was

                  A WOMAN WORTHY OF RESPECT

Rosa Park’s prison number 7053, is used to represent her commitment to the civil rights movement and our commitment to value and respect our women

7053 = I AM A WOMAN WORTHY OF RESPECT

IF we don’t accept that CHARACTER MATTERS and that our women are WORTHY OF RESPECT, then we make a mockery of the legacy of Martin Luther King jr., Rosa Parks and the principals that undergirded and gave power to  the CIVILWRIGHTS MOVEMENT.

The runners

As we unite with common principles that make us rise (symbolized by the runners rising out of the starting block) we then pass these principles on to others.
